VoWiFi is available all over Ukraine provided for the connection to Wi-Fi network.

How to check if your SIM and smartphone support 4G/LTE (eSIM/uSIM)?

You can check it yourself using a free USSD request - dial *222# and press the call button. Within 5 minutes, you will get an SMS with information about the support of your smartphone and 4G card.

Please note that the connection to VoLTE and VoWiFi technology will be possible only if 4G/LTE is available in your smartphone.

How do I activate VoLTE/VoWiFi in my smartphone?

To start testing VoLTE and VoWiFi, it is necessary to activate first the service via USSD request *888*7# or in My Vodafone app.

VoLTE activation:

To activate VoLTE, it is necessary to be within the coverage area of this technology.

Apple (iOS):

  • Check the software version of your iPhone (version 17.0 or above). If an update is suggested, update it to the latest version available:

Settings → General → About → iOS version

  • Activate VoLTE in your smartphone settings:

If there are several SIM cards in your smartphone: Settings → Cellular Data → Voice & Data → Select LTE network → Enable VoLTE

If there is 1 SIM card in your smartphone or only 1 eSIM: Settings → Cellular Data → Data Options → Voice & data → Select LTE network → Enable VoLTE

3. Check the connection to IMS:

Settings → General → About → Tap on Operator until the IMS status appears: Voice & SMS

Android:

  • First, check the software version of your smartphone. If an update is suggested, update it to the latest version available:
  • Activate VoLTE in your smartphone settings:

Activation of VoWiFi:

To activate VoWiFi, first connect to a Wi-Fi network, and then activate the function in your smartphone.

Apple (iOS):

1. First, connect to an available Wi-Fi network.

2. Activate VoWiFi in your smartphone settings:

Settings → Cellular Data → Select the SIM card to be activated for VoWiFi → WiFi calls → Enable WiFi calls on iPhone

3. Check the IMS connection:

Settings → General → About → opposite the Network Selection, there should be Vodafone UA Wi-Fi

or

Settings → Cellular Data → Vodafone UA → opposite the Network Selection, there should be Vodafone UA Wi-Fi

 Android:

  • First, check the software version of your smartphone. If an update is suggested, update it to the latest version available:
  • Connect to an available Wi-Fi network.
  • Activate VoWiFi in your smartphone settings:

Settings → Call Settings → Wi-Fi Calls or Wi-Fi Calling

or

Calls icon (green phone call indicator) → in the upper right hand corner, click on three dots → Call Settings → Wi-Fi Calls or Wi-Fi Calling.

You should also see a VoWiFi icon on the top of your home screen, near the network status icon.

The method may vary depending on your smartphone model.

* Wait for the SMS about the service activation (if VoLTE/VoWiFi was previously activated in your phone, SMS should have already received and there is no need to wait for it).

* Use mobile services as usual, but with VoLTE/VoWiFi technology.

* Wait for the SMS about the service activation with Congratulations! Free VoLTE and VoWiFi services are now available to you…

  • if VoLTE/VoWiFi was previously activated in the phone, the SMS should have already been received and there is no need to wait for it;
  • If there is no SMS, restart your smartphone.
How do I know if the service is activated?

You will first get information that the request to activate the service has been accepted. After a couple of minutes, you will get an SMS confirming the service activation stating VoLTE and VoWiFi Calls service is activated.
You can also check the availability of the service by sending a USSD request: *888*71#.

Next, go to the service settings in your smartphone. Only after you have set up the services in your smartphone, you will get such an SMS - Congratulations! Free VoLTE and VoWiFi services are now available to you... which will enable to start using VoLTE and VoWiFi services

In Android smartphones, during a call, it will be displayed that it is a VoLTE and VoWiFi call.

In Apple (iOS) smartphones, the VoWiFi icon is available in the iOS 18.0.2 version, the VoLTE icon is not available, so you can check it in another way:

a) during an incoming/outgoing call, the LTE/Wi-Fi network icon should remain in the appropriate technology;

b) in the smartphone settings:

To check VoLTE: Settings → General → About → Tap on Operator until the IMS status appears: Voice & SMS;

To check Wi-Fi: Settings → General → About → next to Network Selection, see Vodafone UA Wi-Fi.

c) in My Vodafone → Expenses. To do this, select the Free filter, after which you will see a list of calls with the technology (information on calls is updated within an hour).

The presence of the VoLTE and VoWiFi icons depends on the manufacturer’s settings and the operating system version of your smartphone.

How do I make VoLTE and VoWiFi calls?

For VoLTE, your smartphone should be within 4G/LTE coverage and in an area where VoLTE is already available when you make a call.

For VoWiFi, your smartphone should be connected to any Wi-Fi network before you can make a call.

Please note: if the flight mode is activated in your smartphone or there is no mobile network connection (but Wi-Fi is available), the calls and SMS will only will work for 10 minutes due to technical limits. After that, they will become unavailable until you reconnect to the network.

Do I have to pay anything for VoLTE and VoWiFi calls?

No, the technology is provided at no extra charge. The calls are charged according to the terms of your tariff plan.

Do VoLTE and VoWiFi work in roaming?
open

No, this service is available only in Ukraine within the coverage of the operator’s network (except for the territories where the public authorities temporarily do not exercise their powers or do not exercise them in full).

Please note that before travelling abroad, turn off VoLTE and VoWiFi calls in your phone settings to avoid possible problems with voice calls. After returning to Ukraine, switch them back on.

Will I be able to make VoLTE/VoWiFi call to a subscriber who does not have VoLTE/VoWiFi connected?

Yes, of course. Your services will work even if the person you are calling does not have these services.

Can I use VoLTE and VoWiFi at the same time?

Yes, we recommend connecting both technologies in your smartphone for uninterrupted mobile communications.

If your phone has VoLTE and VoWiFi enabled at the same time, the call will be made depending on the priority set:

Apple (iOS): primarily via VoLTE (VoLTE → VoWiFi).

Android: primarily, via VoWiFi (VoWiFi → VoLTE) or as you set in the smartphone settings.

What should I do if VoLTE / VoWiFi does not work?

If VoLTE/VoWiFi does not work, make sure that:

1. Your smartphone is official and intended for use in Ukraine.

2. Your smartphone and SIM card support 4G (to check, dial *222#).

3. Your smartphone supports VoLTE/VoWiFi and is within its coverage area (for VoWiFi, your phone should be connected to Wi-Fi).

4. The smartphone is updated to the latest version.

5. The service that enables to use VoLTE and VoWiFi is connected, to check it, dial the USSD request: *888*71#.

6. VoLTE/VoWiFi calls can be activated in the smartphone settings.

If all of the above conditions are met and VoLTE/VoWiFi does not work:

Restart your smartphone.

Contact your Vodafone operator at 111 or via My Vodafone chat.
